Direct Ownership
Clients should understand their plan, the available tradeoffs, and the reasoning behind important decisions—not feel dependent on an advisor to interpret their financial life.
Greenwing Wealth was founded on a simple belief: financial advice should help people gain greater ownership over their decisions, their resources, and the life they want to build.
After more than a decade in corporate finance, Austin Lane began questioning whether the conventional career path aligned with the kind of work and relationships he wanted to build. The experience was valuable, but the traditional model eventually felt untenable.
Greenwing Wealth grew from the decision to create something more independent: a firm where clients can ask direct questions, understand the reasoning behind their plan, and work with an advisor who is free to speak honestly.
Greenwing’s approach is grounded in clear communication, independent thinking, and ongoing attention.

Austin values clear thinking over easy reassurance. That sometimes means offering a perspective that differs from what someone expected, but doing so openly and respectfully.
Austin’s active management philosophy is grounded in research, discipline, and ongoing attention rather than a passive, one-size-fits-all approach.
“I care more about your direct ownership over your plan than your business with me.”
Guidance should encourage understanding rather than dependence.
Greenwing Wealth is named in honor of Evan Jarrett, Austin’s brother-in-law. Evan’s life and legacy continue to shape the way Austin thinks about time, relationships, and what real wealth means.
“The only real asset is time.”
Financial planning involves money, investments, and long-term strategy, but the purpose runs deeper. Resources matter because of the people they support, the responsibilities they help carry, and the life they allow someone to live.
Evan’s memory is a reminder that wealth is not measured only in dollars. That perspective, shaped in part by Austin’s faith, continues to influence the way Greenwing approaches stewardship, honesty, and service.
Austin takes the responsibility of helping people navigate important financial decisions seriously. He does not believe that requires financial planning—or the person delivering it—to feel overly formal or impersonal.
His sense of humor is often one of the first things people notice. Behind it is an experienced CFP® professional, business owner, author, speaker, and community advocate who is willing to have direct conversations and invest the time to understand the people he serves.
Austin lives in Helotes with his wife and four daughters. He enjoys hunting, camping, smoking brisket, attending sporting events, and proudly counts himself among DADD: Dads Against Daughters Dating.
A first conversation is an opportunity to discuss where you are, what matters most to you, and whether Greenwing’s perspective feels like the right fit for the road ahead.
